Wine Question

Wine Related Question Winery Staff (+tipping)

Should the Tasting Room Staff at a Winery/Vineyard be tipped for pouring a tasting/glass or a purchase of a bottle to be consumed on premise? If so, is the the food-service industry standard of 15-20%? WHat would it depend on?

Thank you!

Here are my thoughts as a winery owner. It is not necessary to tip our staff, but it's a really nice thing to do if you've enjoyed your visit and learned something. We all know that our Tasting Room staff members are the unsung heroes of our industry, repeating the same information dozens of times a day and (hopefully) doing it with a smile and fresh approach that makes our guests feel welcome. Anything from a couple of dollars to $10 would be much appreciated, but not expected, by any server.
